An unboxing experience is everything from branded packaging materials to the artful way you present your products.

When a customer receives a package from you, opening it should be an experience they look forward to, like Dollar Shave Club or FabFitFun‘s unboxing experiences.

While small business owners can’t provide the same level of unboxing as large companies can, you can still add small touches that will add up to a special experience for your customers.

This might include a handwritten note, a dash of humor (maybe in the form of affordable stickers?), a quirky newsletter, neatly folded tissue paper that is sealed with a branded sticker or tape, a postcard, or a small free gift.

And before you dismiss an unboxing experience as unnecessary, consider this statistic from Dot Com Distribution:

In addition, an unboxing experience motivates customers to share photos on social media, furthering your reach organically.

    All my orders are packaged as gifts with brightly colored tissue paper, curling ribbon and a few sample sizes of other products! Even if you buy something for yourself it should be fun to open!
